Son of Mr. Donald M'Leod, Ardindrean, Lochbroom.

 

Joined H.M.S. Helga in 1915
Was washed overboard in a gale in Kingstown 22nd Dec. 1916.

 

Had three brothers serving -

  • Alick M'Leod, Seaforths.
  • William M'Leod, Seaforths.
  • John M'Leod, H.M.S. Cygnet.

Official records give his age as 23 and not 24 as stated above. His date of death is recorded as being the 23rd of December 1916 and not the 22nd.

 

He is also commemorated locally on a family grave in Clachan, Lochbroom:

DROWNED 23 DEC. 1915
AGE 23 YEARS
SONS OF DONALD MACLEOD
